Electricity from sugar?

I'm new to this forum. I'm interested in new battery technologies and was wondering if anyone here has experimented with it.

Sugar can be fermented into alcohol, distilled and put into an IC engine which might generate electricity. I believe there may be a microbiological method as well. I note that the video in post 1 has been removed.
