This is essentially just creating a optical oscillator and putting conductive ions in the path of the oscillating wave. In theory by using high voltage pulsed current would be more effective than constant current or AC.

    What do you think?

The Sodium +Water reaction if you watch under Ultra-fast video you will realize that the process of the ignition of the evolving Hydrogen gas is rather slow, hence the vacuum Field removes the liberated Hydrogen gas much much faster than the time required for the ignition to catch up.
Now, when the Vacuum is leaked there are Water vapours that re-condense along with vacuum evaporated vapours of Sodium metal that follow the usual reaction and ignition action..
