  • 6 coil kit prototype

    Hi everyone,

after numerous starts and stops, lost drawings, other miscellaneous gremlins, I finally have a prototype from the cnc guy for the frame and coil holders and rotor for a 6 coil machine. spent a lot of time driving to and from the shop, making changes and moving things around. this kit will handle rotors from 6 to 12 inches, with a 1/2 inch axle.

JB will be getting one of these this week, and will ok the design for use. it will allow 6 coils and 12 magnets in scalar north config with this rotor.

I will be making the coil holders and the rotors available seperately if anyone wants them.

    Very nice.

What is the capacity of the battery bank you intend to energize with this machine? 12vdc...->...48vdc? 10ah...->...1000ah?

      Hi Tom,

Will the actual kit be made of wood like the prototype or will it be plexiglas like the one in John's video?

Tom, this looks great. I love it.
I'm thinking that along with a complete kit you might want to sell a partial kit, where a person could purchase it piece by piece if they felt inclined to.
Also wondering if it will include cap pulser circuit? I'd like to see a bigger charger like this with caps.
So glad you'll be using scalar N's.
Should be good for 1000 - 1500aH @24v worth of batteries I should think.

        Have fun

          Lost,

it will run it at whatever voltage you want, I am not supplying coils yet, just the frame, rotor, coil mounts, empty spools and unpopulated circuit boards.

          Gary,

it will be wood screw it and glue it!!

          Ronnie,

yea I will sell rotors and coil mounts just have to have enough people want em to do a run at the chc place, they have minimums as most machine shops do.

so if everyone who is interested in stuff let me know I will do a run of just coil holders and rotors. I think I can do the coil holders in half inch ply that will save us a bit.....

the number AH of batteries it can charge is to be determined by each builder, I will post results of mine in a few months, it will take that long to build and cycle the machine a few times.

            Hi Tom.,
            Looks good (+_+)
I'm interested in one of the kits.
            Thanks

Hi , I guess the obvious question is the cost. The pictures of the kit look nice. I'm interested but cost is always an issue. At least it is anymore.

              Thanks,

Howdy Tom, Looks real nice! Would it be a possibility to have the cad data available so that we could purchase it, download it, and then have it machined locally in the material of our choice? Just a thought. I would like to have it in plexi, and would rather have an aluminum rotor for the added benefit of greater energy storage in the mass of an aluminum rotor. For those who don't mind the extra expense of purchasing the plexi and aluminum (or whatever materials one might want to use) and having it locally machined, it would be worth it, and you could sell the data as a digital product, without the cost of shipping etc. WIN, WIN !! Just throwin that out there.....

I will have to think about it.

looking like 500.00 plus shipping right now. it is heavy wood!! also I have no assembly instructions made, and need to work out some of the glitches in manufacturing. I would feel comfortable selling to people who have a bit of mechanical and woodworking skills.

Hi Tom, Les. That's quite reasonable IMO. Nice video on YouTube. That is a great looking machine.

                          Thanks.

left some rambling lame comments on coil gap :-)
