Hi ED_ ...
i did not say that your circuit is not working. I said your schematic is wrong and the schematic in your youtube video is not the same as you posted here! AND it is also
WRONG because your SCR is in wrong direction
This is an excellent example of do as i do not as i say :-)
the do is the vid - easy to see how things are hooked up and it is working.
the say is the schematic.
cheers,
Patrick
This will run and run and run and run.....
If I place an amp meter it shows 1.23 mA and the voltage drops accordingly.
When I shunt the amp meter, the voltage goes back up.
This uses the negistor as I show in an earlier post and vid on this thread.
You must adjust/balance either and/or
voltage/cap/resistance
until you are pulling from the negative region.
Keep adding LED's... I've added more than are in the pic w/o increasing amp draw and w/o diminishing the light. The more you add the lower the amp draw to a point - it's all a balance. LCR
so you are using an 18 AWG aluminum wire as the coil correct? at 20 ohms length of wire...

Hi Tom,
That's it, and the 1.23mA is not off the 15 volts, it's off the negative breakdown differential.
This can be done w/ almost any coil, I just happen to be playing around w/ the aluminum because of the higher resistance coupled w/ the thick wire. Using the mje's w/ this wire and cap produces a nice spike in the negative zone.
It's a very simple little ckt. The 2n2222 works as well as the mjl's and several other npn's.
Kind regards,
Patrick
