I ran some tests with my meters and I believe it demonstrates what you have been saying. I did not use the LED method but I think it shows what is important, if not it has at least opened my eyes a bit wider.
Thank you for your persistence! Theory is no substitute for bench testing and I was wrong in my theory, plain and simple.
The video explains how I tested but it is worth noting that the first part was a baseline which clearly establishes that the two test boards were operating exactly the same prior to base resistance manipulation. I think other things could throw different results such as gaps being different but the baseline shows that they were the same and only the resistance change could account for the finding.
