  • Transistor Tester REF Intermediate book

    Hi All,

    Just finished testing 500 transistors and classifying them. Took me about 2 hours to classify them. I built the tester from page 11 in the Intermediate book. I do not know why but I had to change some of the resistor values to obtain a wide variable pot range for the meter readings. This thing is the cats ass! I built this thing in less than 3 hours from junk and left over boards for parts. I contemplated trying to find a plug for the transistors to plug into but ended up building my own using the clear case housing as the lead guides and built my own contacts using eyelet solder lugs as the connectors and the spring connectors for the three tranny leads. Some times you just have to use common sense I guess and do it the hard way......you know build everything. The testor was built from a plastic project box I had laying around. I had nothing more than a cordless drill some holes saws and some drills and taps to build what you see here. Came out pretty nice for some dum hick that doesn't know any better.

      Hi Gaspar,

      I just switched the 10K with the 27K. This gives a much wider range on the meter and much more control on the var resisitor. It worked for me!

        Hi Bud,

        I switched them, but change the 10K for a 6,7K. Also I increase my input from 12 to 24, making quick reads, if not the transistor get to hot. It works perfect now.
        I am new in electronics, so thanks for your nice help.
