Varta promotive silver batteries are not flooded lead acid, they are AGM absorbed glass mat. please send the specific model number. here is a list http://www.varta-automotive.com/en-g...ilver-dynamic/ all the varta silver are not deep cycle they are starting batteries, I do not see a 225 AH battery the biggest they list is 110..... I may have the wrong info.

AGM batteries dry out with use. hard to restore.

we just did a test with a bosch battery tester T12300E
at 700 amp setting
test came out as being verry good
so on this old battery we came back from really dead to verry alive in just 6 weeks

despite discharge whilst on the wheel.

right now the old one is outperforming the new battery
same test on the new one resulted in 20 percent less capacity

did your meter not come with software? radioshack has software called meterview, not sure if it will work for your voltmeter.

Dear Tom C,

Here a question for everybody,now we load the big battery in 8 hours to be abel to discharge it at 130watts lets say 1hour and 45min.
two weeks ago we needed 20hours of load for the same discharge at 130watts and 1hour and 45min.
the reason that we stop at about 8 hours charge is that we don't want to let the battery to long charge at 15v50/15v60.
so what i want to know is can we break the plates or cook the acid in the battery or what's your opinion?should we continue to load further to 20 hours?
but please a fair answer we can not permit to dammage this battery.

verry sweet results i would say for a doorstop

I would not worry about full discharging, you are not doing c.o.p. testing. take half out of the battery and start again. its the pulse charging that removes the sulfation.

Which resistors you use in your system?
If MJL21193 then put resistance 2003 Ohm,this can give you a lot of radiant spikes with low current consumption.
It takes a lot of time to charge the battery to full capacity, what is important to know don't discharge battery below 11 Volts!
I wouldn't recommend to work with junk batteries, because its difficult to analyze the state of the battery, better work with new batteries.

our resistors are standard 470 ohm
we run the system to recondition old batterys so we keep at it this way

radiant is at pressent not our research this will be later on when we have more funding

just did a long term discharge run on the good restored battery
5 hour discharge at 130 watt from 12.98volt (standing voltage after 1 week) till 12.18 volt under discharge
after 1 hour rest its back to 12.60 volt standing and still climbing slowly
when i look at the tables i have it should be 5 hours discharge and return to 12.40 volt

looking good now

Do you have experience with the following question?Or anyone else who also reached c20 ratio.
I think if we work out daily to do a discharge ratio c20 so that means 5 hours dis on 11.25A(for a battery 225A) that we can ameliorate even better the capacitie of the battery, or not?
