  • Question about meters

    Hi,

    In the second manual the transistor tester has 0 to 500 ma meter I looked in my collection of meters and I have a 0 to1ma and another is 50 mv FSD I know there is a calculation as to a certain resistor I can use what is it?

    Hi Peth,

    To find the correct shunt resistor value for your 50 millivolt meter just use ohm's law. Divide the voltage (0.05 volts) by the full scale meter reading you want (0.5 amps) to get the resistance (0.1 ohms).

    E=IR, R=E/I, 0.05/0.5=0.1

    The other meter may or may not be a 50mv FSD meter, so would need to be measured to find it's actual values.
