Coil lengths
I have noticed a number of individuals posting different coil lengths for the same gauge wire.
What is the criteria for deciding on wire length?
I got a 5 filar #18Awg at exactly 150ft.
Some are using the same wire at 120ft.
1st what is the outcome of a shorter wire versus a longer wire regards charging and amp draw?
If I could lose 30ft of wire per strand that is a saving of 150ft per coil or 1500ft for a 10 coiler which is substantial.
2nd obviously the impedance of the coil is reduced as well as the resistance. I've heard that reducing the overall impedance of the system has substantial advantages. What are the advantages brought to the table in doing so, particularly with large gauge wires?
Thanks
James
