I got my frame built out of some old shelves, and screwed on the bike wheel. It's pretty sturdy...we shall see how it holds at high RPM's. Planning on taking it to the bike shop to have it balanced so there isn't wobbling going on.
Next is attaching the ceramic magnets. it's a 24" wheel...according to the experimenters doc I need 16 magnets. According to my calculations....and someone correct me if I'm wrong here...it's been awhile math wise.
24" diameter = 75.36" circumfrence
My magnets width = .875"
So if I add up all the width's of the magnets (16 x .875), I get 14". So, 75.36 minus 14 gives me 61.36. If I take that and divide it by 16 spaces, I get 3.835".
That seems to be an awfully large space between magnets. Shouldn't the space be somewhere between 1 and 2 magnets spaces?
Here's a photo of the build so far...
